Holiday destinationThat's why it' s a very popular holiday destination. Spain is especially famous for beach holidays, but has also many art cities and beautiful nature reserves. Spain has a large number of UNESCO World Heritage sites.
MadridMadrid is the capital of Spain and the second-largest city in the European Union. While Madrid possesses modern infrastructure, it has preserved the look and feel of many of its historic neighbourhoods and streets.
BarcelonaBarcelona is Spain's second largest city. Barcelona has a wide variety of attractions that bring in tourists from around the globe. The many faces of Barcelona include the medieval Old Town, and the unique street grid resulting from 19th-century urban planning. The city has long sandy beaches and green parks on the hills. It's also famous for a number of prominent buildings, of which the most-known are by the architect Antoni Gaudí, including his Sagrada Família, which became Barcelona's symbol to many.

The territory of Spain also includes two archipelagos: the Canary Islands off the coast of North Africa, and the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea.
Canary IslandsThis archipelago has eight main islands: Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro and La Graciosa. The archipelago includes also many smaller islands, isllets and a series of adjacent rocks.
The archipelago's beaches, climate and important natural attractions make it a major tourist destination. The islands have a subtropical climate, with long hot summers and moderately warm winters.
Balearic IslandsIt excist out of 4 larger islands: Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, and Formentera. And many minor islands and islets are close to the larger islands.
The islands have a Mediterranean climate, and the four major islands are all popular tourist destinations. Ibiza, in particular, is known as an international party destination, attracting many of the world's most popular DJs to its nightclubs.
