WOW AIR CALLS ITS AIRPLANE BETWEEN REYKJAVIK AND SAN FRANCISCO 'TF-GAY'

ME News - Travellers between Reykjavik and San Francisco will soon be introduced to the new WOW Air airplane with the name TF-GAY.

WOW Air is an Icelandic budget airline that always wants to be associated with a smile and wants to support the LGBTQ community with this Airbus 330-300.

WOW Air was already known for the nice names of its airplanes. They already have a TF-MOM airplane to Berlin and a TF-BRO airplane to Paris. Other names include TF-DAD and TF-KID.

Equal rights

“WOW Air is for the people and one of our main goals is to lower prices so that everyone is able to fly around the world and get to know other cultures. We fully support the fight for homosexual people for equal rights, just as we support equal rights for everyone, regardless of gender, religion, origin or culture. When we announced that we were going to fly to San Francisco, one of our pilots approached me. He suggested registering the airplane as TF-GAY. I immediately thought this was a great idea and it fits in with our family-related airplane names. From day one we have emphasized fun and friendliness, because we want people to feel welcome in the WOW family. We think that TF-GAY fits in perfectly with our modern family concept,” says Skúli Mogensen, the founder, director and owner of WOW Air.

Widest smile

“The WOW factor can be found in everything that WOW air does. From how we make coffee at the office to how we welcome our guests on board. The WOW factor is like a spice, a secret ingredient that is actually an illusion, but at the same time tangible. Simply said: we are fun, frank and cheerful. We hope that our guests like that and perhaps have to laugh at our jokes. We want to surprise and impress. That is why sometimes someone comes on board to entertain you," they said on their website.
