WHY SHOULD LGBTQ'S GO TO STOCKHOLM THIS YEAR?

Picture
ME Talk - That’s very easy. The Swedish capital is getting trendier and trendier. Stockholm is a city where every LGBTQ will feel at home.
SWEDEN | ME TALK | CULTURE | LGBTQ
The LGBTQ event in Stockholm is like the city itself: easy to reach, very nice, very varied, warm and welcoming. Last year, Stockholm was the winner of the 'British LGBT Awards 2015' in the 'LGBT travel destination' category.

"One of the most
beautiful cities
in the world."
In fact, it is undeniable that Stockholm is even one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The Swedish capital stretches over fourteen islands between the deep blue of the Baltic Sea and the quieter Lake Mälar. The city was founded more than 750 years ago in the Middle Ages, this makes Stockholm a city with the perfect mix of old alleys with cobblestones and modern architecture.

ABBA

Stockholm has a very wide range of museums and attractions. As an LGBTQ then 'ABBA The Museum' should certainly not be missing on your to-do list. You will probably notice that this group will regularly sound through the loudspeakers on the street. If you want more, pay a visit to 'ABBA The Museum'. In the museum you discover the costumes of the band, gold plates and original items, and you can also pick up a lot of special memories from ABBA.

Music

From the beginning of May this year, the city will also be overwhelmed by the Eurovision Song Contest. The grand finale will take place on 14 May. I can imagine that the most famous song festival in the world will be on almost every corner of the street and every square. That's how I know Stockholm.

Pride

Two months later, from 25 to 30 July 2016, there is Stockholm Pride. In recent years there have always been more than 500,000 visitors and more than 50,000 participants. The city then changes into all colours of the rainbow and becomes a big party for all ages.

Pippi Longstocking

As a rainbow family, will you travel with children? Then you can visit Pippi Longstocking in ‘Junibacken’. It’s Stockholm’s 5th most-visited tourist attraction. It is devoted to Swedish children’s literature, but especially Astrid Lindgren. Outside the building is a bronze statue of Lindgren. Junibacken contains the largest children’s bookstore in Sweden.
