Last spring, I was in Iceland, and I made an overview for you, about which places are Instagram worth to capture. Because let's be realistic: these days, Instagram and travel belong together. 1. SeljalandsfossThe Seljalandsfoss is one of the most famous waterfalls in Iceland that is depicted on many photos and calendars, so this one can certainly not be missing on your Instagram. The waterfall drops 60 metres (197 feet) and is part of the Seljalands River that has its origin in the volcano glacier Eyjafjallajökull. Visitors can walk behind the falls into a small cave. Read more under the photo 2. Airplane wreck of SólheimasandurIf you have seen many photos of Iceland on Instagram, chances are that you have seen photos of the airplane wreck of Sólheimasandur. The airplane wreck can be seen in countless traveller photos, a Bollywood film, various TV commercials and music videos, perhaps best known in a Sigur Rós documentary from 2007, and more recently in the video for Justin Bieber's “I’ll Show You”. The scenery and otherworldly composition of black sand and weathered grey hulk of the plane draw thousands of visitors every year. Read more under the photo 3. SeydisfjördurSeydisfjördur is the most charming place in Iceland. Imagine a small fishing village at the end of the world, full of picturesque colourful houses, located in the mouth of a majestic fjord, surrounded by steep, dramatic mountains and waterfalls. JökulsárlónThe Jökulsárlón is the largest and most famous glacier lake in Iceland and is one of the greatest natural wonders of the island. The lake is littered with small and large ice floes floating in the water. The ice lake is breathtakingly beautiful and ensures that you have very successful Instagram photos. Read more under the photo 5. GodafossThe Godafoss waterfall is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Iceland, falling from a height of 12 metres (39 feet) over a width of 30 metres (98 feet). The name Godafoss means waterfall of the gods, so you want a divine photo on your Instagram. Be there. Read more under the photo 6. DettifossThe Dettifoss waterfall is with the greatest volume of any waterfall in Europe. The thunderous falls has an average waterflow of 193 metres cubed per second (6,186 cubic feet). It is 100 metres (330 feet) wide and plummets 45 metres (150 feet) down into Jökulsárgljúfur canyon. And if you're lucky you can capture a beautiful rainbow over the canyon like me. The water in the Hvítá River flows from the Langjökull Glacier, before flowing 32 meters (105 feet) over the two steps of Gullfoss in a dramatic representation of the raw power of nature.
