Austria is centrally located in Europe in the Alps. Only 32% of the country is below the 500 metre. Most of the inhabitants speak German, which is also the official language.

NatureBut Austria also has a beautiful nature. The variety of relief and climate creates a very varied plant kingdom. Austria is one of the most forested countries in Europe. Characteristic are the deciduous forest and the mixed forest in higher regions.
The alpine flora has many species and is colourful. At the northern edge of the Alps, greenery dominates, while to the east of the Neusiedlersee there is a specific salt stepping flora. The national parks (3% of the surface) show the variety of beautiful landscapes, such as jungle and rainforest.
